Vinoteka App Reviews

Total Fail

I have been patiently waiting for an update to this application for almost a year only to be disappointed once again. I have the desktop version of their app and have been accustomed to long cycles between updates and this one is no different. However, this app delivers nothing. Finally they provide you a way to scan your bottles (its about time) but dont plan on being able to use it because after scanning a bottle the application freezes and you are forced to kill it. What a waste. Save your money. This app is not worth it.

Another update, another disappointment

Not sure what this was supposed to fix, but there is still no sync with the Mac version so my app remains desperately empty on iPhone and iPad after over one year! Totally useless and still no answer whatsoever from the developer to emails or support requests. Time to move on to working apps. The App Store should remove this as it borders fraud. This is a sad end to what used to be a great app.

Where did the good version go.

Been a user for 5 years. Was a little rough in the beginning then after a few upgrades and an attentive support group I felt it was working pretty well. The last year or so functions like image capture off the web stopped working and now all images are gone on the iPhone. All messages to support go unanswered.

Doesnt work

Scanning a barcode just freezes the entire app. Only bought it to upload data to the OSX version of the app. Waste of money.

A wonderful app!

This app is visually stunning and a great app. It is also a "must have" if you have the desktop version of Vinoteka (which you **should** have if you keep more than a few bottles in the house). The app makes shopping for wine easy as you can take your collection and notes with you on your touch or iPhone. No more having to remember what you do or dont have or like or dont like...its all stored in the app! They offer great tech support and the price is great, too. I am a very satisfied customer.

Want a refund

This is by far the most complicated wine inventory system I have used. Very cumbersome in the simple day to day tasks. To manage an inventory you must 1st create a bottle "reference" and then work off of that to create a cellar. Not very user friendly unfortunately. Moving on to try something else.

Great application

Along with Vinoteka for iMac, this is a great app to track and organize your wine cellar, add tasting notes & sync between the two. I understand scanning will be included in the near future which will make it perfect.

Non Mac user

Downloaded on my iTouch, entered 300 Bottles worth of information. The data would not transfer to my IPad. Beware PC users......

Its Fine

I use both the Mac and iPad version - they synch. The iPhone version is buggy and crashes every time I use it. Since I mostly use this on the Mac I dont mind that much. Im just surprised that they dont fix the bugs on the iPhone version. If you are only using this on the iPhone - do not buy it. If you are using the Mac version, its good.

Love the update!!

Been a huge fan of this app for a while now, and with the latest version its even better! Just love it!

Please fix the bugs

Ive used the app for a while. Was great. Now, it shuts down if I try to edit. Plus, I have a straight 10 column 5 row fridge. That deleted with the updates. Now, I can only choose pyramid.

Horrible Application

Application is completely nonfunctional will the new iPad (iOS 6). Tried to begin loading my wine collection and most of the tools are off screen that makes this application useless!!! I want my money back...... What a waste.

Crash

The application is working well, just recently...if I need to insert a new wine...I cannot insert any picture anymore. The application crash immediately.

Great potential

Has great potential. The full Mac version is wonderful. It desperately needs an update because on my iPad 3 I can not see all of several windows that pop up. It looks like you can take a picture of the lable, but when I click on it, the program crashes... Please update the program and fix the bugs. :-)

Vinotka

Worst app , not very user friendly

Best way to keep track of and update your wine inventory, both visually and via customizable lists

Its such a help to finally have a wine cellar inventory app that does absolutely everything Id want it to. Flexibly and easily. Id give it the 5 stars it truly deserves, but the wine database is still in beta, so entering a whole inventory at once takes more time than it would if the database were more thorough. But its still totally worth the time. Im using both the iPhone/iPad app and the Mac version, which sync over a wireless network. Because the software has so many capabilities, its helpful to refer to the manual or demo videos when first learning the best way to do certain things. It becomes second nature swiftly. I especially love the graphical representation of all my storage. Now I can run to the cellar with my phone, which tells me exactly where a bottle is (what room, what container or fridge, what shelf, and where on that shelf), and I can move or mark it as drunk right there in the app, with a couple taps. A nice touch is that it keeps track of bottles youve drunk -- not only for your records, but so you neednt re-enter data if you get more. And with a single tap (or keystroke in the Mac version), you can duplicate an entry and change the year if you get new bottles of another vintage. No need to retype anything else. For years I kept my own spreadsheet database, but that was too much of a pain to keep updated. Became a mess. I also tried the other leading apps, but discarded them all for being too limited. While I love and rely on CellarTracker for many things, Vinotekas organization/inventory tools are far superior to anything that their mobile site is going for, or anything the 3rd party apps like CellarVU or Cor.kz are offering. Those all lack the flexibility, customizability, ease and visual appeal of Vinoteka. The mere fact that you can easily enter and change data on your phone or iPad, and view your collection arranged by where bottles are stored, is enough to push this one to the top of the list. As soon as the database service emerges from beta, Vinoteka gets the 5th star and will be perfect.

This is the app serious wine collectors have been looking for!

I use this to keep up with my wine collection of over 300 bottles. As a stand alone product, it is a little cumbersome to work using just an iPhone or iPad. The brilliance of this software is realized when you use the desktop version as well. Syncing between devices is a snap, and the user interface is gorgeous.

Ridiculously hard to do even the most basic functions

For me this is a total waste of money. The syncing works only occasionally. It takes forever to enter a single bottle of wine. The scan search is a great idea but totally useless, it doesnt recognize basic bottles from even well known wineries. Changes are hard to make. Putting a photo of the actual label on the proper shape bottle is also a great idea until you try to execute with a cellar of over 500 different bottles. Im retired and even then dont have the time for this software. Save your money and your time.

Wait for update to Syncing

The app itself is fantastic, however. The sync capability is pretty much completely broken, which is very annoying as I paid for both Vinoteka Touch and Vinoteka Mac but they dont talk with each other well at all. So its impossible for me to update info on wines from my iPhone and have it update to my Mac. It seems VinotekaSoft is quite slow to update the apps as well. Until they fix the ability to seamlessly sync between Mac and other devices I wouldnt recommend buying this app.

Search doesn’t work

The bar code scanner works fine, but there doesn’t appear to be anything behind. The after-scan window says “Powered by Wine Place”, but Google can’t find any such company. Every single scan failed to find anything. I tried a dozen different vintners, such as: A to Z winnowers,, Penfolds, J. J. Prüm and Yalumba, not a single hit. Entering in a new label by hand is unbelievable onerous - each field has a popup, there is no flow from field to field.
